Factory orders in Germany rose slightly in November

Data published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) showed that in November, factory orders rose by 0.3% after declining by 3.8% in October (revised from -3.7%). Experts expected an increase of 1.0%. Meanwhile, over the last three months (through November), factory orders decreased by 4.5% compared to the previous three months. Destatis said that in November, new factory orders, excluding large-scale orders, fell by 0.6% compared to October.

As for sectors, new orders rose in the capital goods sector (+0.8% mom) and the consumer goods sector (+1.1% mom), but fell in the intermediate goods sector (-0.4% mom).

Meanwhile, foreign orders fell by 0.4% compared to October, while new orders from the euro area decreased by 1.9% and orders from the rest of the world increased by 0.6%. Domestic orders increased by 1.4% on a monthly basis.
