Construction output in the eurozone continued to decline in November

Data published by Eurostat showed that in November the construction output fell by 2.2% per year after a decrease of 0.7% in October. On a monthly basis, the volume of construction decreased by 1.0%, accelerating compared to October (-0.6%). Meanwhile, among the EU countries, the volume of construction fell by 1.0% mom and by 2.1% per annum.

In the euro area, building construction decreased by 1.2% and civil engineering by 0.4%. In the EU, building construction decreased by 1.1% and civil engineering by 0.2%.

Compared with November 2022, building construction in the euro area fell by 2.4%, while civil engineering decreased by 1.0%. In the EU, building construction decreased by 2.5%, while civil engineering increased by 0.2%.

Among Member States, the largest decreases were recorded in Hungary (-12.8%), Finland (-6.9%) and Czechia (-6.5%). The highest annual increases in production in construction were observed in Romania (+14.4%), Slovenia (+11.6%) and Spain (+9.7%).
