Chicago Federal Reserve Bank president Austan Goolsbee said Monday that he is among policymakers projecting three interest-rate cuts this year.
Asked if June is on the table, the official indicated that everything is on the table but depends on the data. "We should never rule out or rule in anything when we've got a whole lot of data to come," he said.
Chicago Fed president also noted that the broader picture on inflation likely hasn’t fundamentally changed after the last two CPI reports. In Goolsbee's opinion, the main puzzle has been about housing. "We have got to get housing inflation coming down closer to where it was before the pandemic," he added.
