BoC's governor Macklem: Trade disruptions increase the variability of inflation

Bank of Canada governor Tiff Macklem said on Tuesday that global trade had slowed and that is a big concern for Canada. He added that trade disruptions increase the variability of inflation and may mean larger deviations from the BoC's 2% inflation target.

The official also noted that the BoC's policymakers have to focus on risk management, balancing upside risks to inflation with downside risks to economic growth.
