Eurozone’s consumer confidence worsens more than expected in December

The European Commission (EC) inforned on Friday its flash estimate revealed the consumer confidence indicator for the Eurozone dropped by 0.7 percentage points to -14.5 in December from a downwardly revised -13.8 (from -13.7) in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since April (-14.7).

Economists had predicted the index to slip to -14.0 early this month.

Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment indicator declined by 1.0 percentage points to -13.4 in December.

With this month’s decreases, both indicators moved further below their long-term averages.
