EC's president von der Leyen: EU member states agreed to put their countermeasures on U.S. goods on hold for 90 days

European Commission (EC) president Ursula von der Leyen stated on Thursday that the EU member states agreed to put their countermeasures on the U.S. goods on hold for 90 days after Wednesday's announcement by U.S. President Trump of a 90-day suspension on his recently imposed global tariffs.

"We want to give negotiations a chance," von der Leyen said but warned that if negotiations are not satisfactory, the EU's countermeasures will kick in.

EC's president also noted that preparatory work on further countermeasures continues and stressed that all options remain on the table.
