ECB's Governing Council member Kazimir: Policy mistake of premature easing would be more significant than the risk of staying tight for too long

European Central Bank Governing Council member Peter Kazimir noted on Monday that the decrease in inflation observed in the past few months is positive. However, he added it is not enough to declare victory and move on to the next stage.

The official also warned that the policy mistake of premature easing would be more significant than the risk of staying tight for too long.

Kazimir emphasized that he would closely watch economic indicators and make any hasty moves. He added that he needs to see clear signs of wage moderation.

The policymaker also stated that he is increasingly confident that the inflation in the Eurozone will reach the ECB's target in 2025, and the region's economy will see a soft landing.
