The number of unemployed in Spain continued to decline in December

The latest figures from the Ministry of Employment showed that in December the number of unemployed decreased by 27,375 people, amounting to 2,707,456 people, which is the lowest figure for December since 2007. On an annual basis, the number of unemployed decreased by 130,197 people or by 4.59%.

Compared to November, the number of unemployed decreased in the service sector by 25,158 people (-1.28%), in agriculture by 1,965 people (-1.97%) and among people without previous employment (-7,018 people or -2.80%). However, unemployment increased in the construction sector (+5,285 people or +2.53%) and in the industrial sector (+1,481 people or +0.69%).

Unemployment among women decreased by 28,120 or 1.71%, to 1,616,973, while unemployment among men increased by 745 or +0.07%, to 1,090,483. Unemployment among youth under the age of 25 decreased by 12,014 people or 5.83% compared to November, to 193,965 people (record low).
