Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook said Monday that she believes a careful approach to further policy adjustments can ensure that inflation will return sustainably to 2% while striving to maintain the strong labour market.
The official also noted that the path of disinflation has been bumpy and uneven, as expected, but acknowledged that the risks to achieving the Fed's employment and inflation goals are moving into better balance.
