Atlanta Fed president Bostic: The Fed has to be cautious about the first rate move

Atlanta Federal Reserve President Raphael Bostic on Tuesday said that he is not in a hurry to cut interest rates and wants to ensure that policy easing is unambiguous. The official added that he would rather wait longer for a rate cut to ensure inflation does not start to bounce around.

Bostic also expressed the view that the Fed has to be cautious about the first rate move as it may need to be later to avoid stoking pent-up exuberance for investment and other spending.

In addition, the Atlanta Fed president revealed that he sees inflation to decline but relatively slowly and noted that he would not expect a rate cut before the fourth quarter.
