Kansas City Federal Reserve President Jeff Schmid reiterated on Tuesday that he believes that interest rate policy may be "near" where it needs to be for the longer run.
The official also said that the Fed is "pretty close" to meeting both its mandates. He noted that inflation is moving towards its target, economic growth is showing momentum, and the jobs market is weaker but remains healthy overall.
In addition, Schmid expressed optimism about growth and hiring prospects, adding that he is optimistic that inflation pressures will continue to ease.
