BoE's MPC member Greene: Rate cuts in the UK should still be a way off

Bank of England's monetary policy committee member Megan Greene said on Thursday in an interview with the Financial Times that, in her view, rate cuts in the UK should still be a way off.

The policymaker argued that investors, betting on two quarter-point interest rate cuts by the BoE in 2024, underestimate the risk that the UK inflation will remain high for longer than in other advanced economies. According to her, inflation persistence is a greater threat for Britain than the U.S.
