European Central Bank Governing Council member Robert Holzmann stated on Tuesday that he doesn't know what will happen at the ECB's January 30 policy meeting.
The official noted that he doesn’t think the ECB "can go down as straight as it is" particularly due to recent "hiccups" in the euro area's inflation. "Core inflation still closer to 3% than to 2%," Holzmann highlighted, adding that the region faces "a lot of challenges with regard to energy."
However, the policymaker expressed hope that the eurozone's inflation will be at the ECB's target by this year’s end.
