The European Commission (EC) announced on Wednesday its flash estimate showed the consumer
confidence indicator for the Eurozone climbed by 1.8 percentage points to -15.1
in December from an unrevised -16.9 in the previous month. That was the highest
reading since July (-15.1).
Economists had predicted the index to increase to -16.4 early this month.
Considering the European Union (EU) as a whole, the consumer sentiment
indicator jumped by 1.5 percentage points
to -16 0 in December.
Despite this month’s increases, both indicators
remained below their long-term averages.
