European Central Bank president Christine Lagarde told the euro area's leaders at a summit in Brussels on Friday that the inflation decline in the region is expected to continue due to the effectiveness of monetary policy.
The official also said that economic growth is projected to pick up during the year, mainly driven by growing purchasing power.
In addition, Lagarde noted that economic resilience requires higher productivity, which, in turn, needs higher capital investment, adding that the capital markets union will have to play a key role in that regard.
